Education Ministry Condemns Violence at Obuasi SHTS and Orders Investigation

The Ministry of Education has strongly condemned the recent violent incident at Obuasi Senior High Technical School, describing the actions of those involved as criminal and completely unacceptable.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, the Ministry emphasized that acts of violence and lawlessness have no place in Ghana’s educational institutions and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident.
He also instructed that appropriate disciplinary measures be taken against anyone found responsible, in line with the laws and regulations governing the education sector.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline within schools, emphasizing that discipline is the cornerstone of quality education.
It pledged to work closely with the Ghana Education Service and other relevant authorities to uphold order, safeguard school leaders and students, and ensure that schools remain safe environments conducive to teaching and learning.
