The Minority Leader and MP for Effutu, Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, today donated 79 laptops to newly posted teachers in the Efutu Municipality as part of his One Teacher-One Laptop Initiative.
The goal is to enhance the quality and standards of education in the area.
During the presentation ceremony, Mr. Afenyo-Markin emphasized the importance of technology in modern education, stating, “A teacher without a laptop is like a soldier without a rifle.”

He explained that the initiative, launched in 2018, aims to equip teachers with digital tools for effective teaching, assessment, and professional growth.
He noted that education tools like chalk and registers are no longer sufficient, stressing that both government and MPs have a duty to provide teachers with the necessary resources. So far, 2,050 laptops have been distributed through this initiative, with 79 of the latest batch given to newly posted teachers today.
The Deputy Director of Human Resources for Efutu, Mr. Reginald Eduafo Mensah, praised the gesture, saying the laptops would improve lesson planning, teaching quality, and student performance.
Beneficiary teachers expressed gratitude to the MP, describing the support as timely and vital for their classroom work.
