Newcastle United has completed the signing of goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek from Braga for a fee of £25.7 million.
Although the club had previously signed 20-year-old Ewen Jaouen from Reims this summer, Newcastle was also seeking an experienced number one goalkeeper.

Hornicek, 24, traveled to Newcastle’s training camp in Spain over the weekend to finalize his transfer and has signed a five-year contract after the club activated his release clause.
Reflecting on his move, Hornicek commented, “The last few days have been an emotional rollercoaster—from when I first heard about the transfer to now. I’m incredibly happy to be here.”
He added, “This is a fantastic opportunity in a new league, and I’m very excited about it. From the moment I arrived, I received a warm welcome and felt the support of everyone at the club. They’ve been amazing in helping me settle in.”
