More than 12 people were injured in a road crash at Sokoban, opposite the GOIL filling station, on Thursday morning.

The accident involved a KIA van transporting wedding decoration materials and a commercial minibus, popularly known as a “trotro,” which was travelling on the Sokoban–Kejetia route.

According to eyewitnesses, the KIA van is suspected to have suffered brake failure while in motion. They said the driver attempted to regain control of the vehicle but was unable to prevent it from crashing into the trotro.

Witnesses praised the driver’s efforts, saying his quick actions may have prevented a more serious tragedy despite the impact.

The collision left more than 12 passengers from both vehicles with varying degrees of injuries, including cuts, bruises, and suspected fractures. The injured were assisted by emergency responders and taken to nearby health facilities for treatment.
