Three people have died while 15 others sustained injuries following a fatal road accident on the Kumasi-Accra Highway near Juaso in the Ashanti Region.
The crash occurred on Monday, July 13, 2026, at a location popularly known as Three-Lane, close to NEXT BON Gas, involving a Shacman truck loaded with clinker and a Dongfeng commercial van carrying passengers.
According to emergency responders, the truck, with registration number GN 9673-25, was being driven by Stephen Amankwah, while the commercial van, registered GM 4002-26, was driven by Nyame Ebenezer.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) disclosed that 18 people were involved in the accident.
Three victims, comprising two men and one woman, were pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained from the impact, while the remaining 15 victims suffered varying degrees of injuries.
Firefighters from the Juaso Fire Station quickly responded to the distress call and carried out rescue operations. The personnel worked to free trapped victims, provide first aid, and assist in transporting the injured to nearby health facilities for treatment.

The exact cause of the collision remains unknown, as police and other relevant agencies have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Investigators are expected to examine factors including the condition of the vehicles, the road environment, and statements from eyewitnesses to determine what led to the crash.
The incident has renewed concerns about road safety on the Kumasi-Accra Highway, one of Ghana’s busiest transport routes.
Authorities and road safety advocates continue to urge motorists to observe speed limits, maintain safe distances, ensure vehicles are roadworthy, and exercise maximum caution, especially when travelling on highways shared with heavy commercial vehicles.
Residents and motorists who witnessed the accident expressed sadness over the loss of lives and commended emergency responders for their swift intervention.
