A young man popularly known as Sheihu, believed to be in his early twenties, has reportedly died in Salaga in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region after allegedly stabbing himself during an attempt to demonstrate what he claimed were spiritual powers.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, June 24, during a youth programme held as part of activities marking the annual Fire Festival.
According to eyewitness accounts, the deceased allegedly used a knife on himself in front of a gathering, claiming he was demonstrating supernatural abilities.
He reportedly sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Salaga Government Hospital for emergency treatment.
However, he was later pronounced dead, leaving residents in shock and mourning.
