Police in Nkwatia, in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region, have arrested a 24-year-old welder apprentice for allegedly attempting to behead his younger brother in a disturbing incident reported in a nearby forest.

The suspect, identified as Kwadwo, is currently in police custody after allegedly attacking his sibling with a sharp object and attempting to sever his head.

According to eyewitness accounts, residents were alerted after hearing distress cries from deep within a forest near the community. Concerned locals rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the victim from the suspect before handing him over to the police.

Eyewitness Account

An eyewitness, Bright Osarfo, said the community quickly mobilised after hearing the victim’s screams for help, leading to the intervention and rescue operation.

Mob Attack and Police Intervention

The Unit Committee Member for the area, Esther Kissiwaa, confirmed that an angry mob attempted to lynch the suspect following his arrest. However, police officers swiftly intervened and prevented the situation from escalating, taking the suspect into protective custody.

She further disclosed that during the chaos, two young men sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Medical Update

A visit by Agoo News to the Nkwatia Hospital revealed that the victim, the suspect, and the two injured individuals are all in stable condition and responding to treatment.

Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
