A newborn baby has been rescued after being found abandoned in a bush at Dechimso-Hafia in the Manhyia South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The infant was discovered on Sunday by concerned residents, who immediately alerted the authorities. The baby was quickly rescued and rushed to the Manhyia Government Hospital, where medical personnel are providing urgent care.
Police have since opened investigations to trace and apprehend the person responsible for abandoning the child. Security officials are also appealing to the public, especially residents of Dechimso-Hafia and nearby communities, to provide any information that could assist in the investigation.
The Assembly Member for the area, Ahenkan Baako, confirmed the incident and said the police are actively working to identify the mother of the baby.
He added that the child is receiving medical attention at the Manhyia Government Hospital for further assessment.
