The Headmistress of Kumasi Girls’ Senior High School, Mrs. Adelaide Biyaa Powers, has recovered unearned salaries paid to four staff members after issues were raised by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

The disclosure was made during the Committee’s sitting on April 22, 2026, as part of its ongoing public hearing into the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report.

The affected staff include Gloria Osei Agyemang, who received 6,390 cedis, 60 pesewas; Isaac Osei, 7,175 cedis; Raymond Kwabena Agyemang, 6,146 cedis; and Francis Nyarko, 5,598 cedis.

Responding to questions from the Committee, Mrs. Biyaa Powers confirmed that all the monies have been fully recovered from the individuals involved.

Auditors present at the hearing verified the recovery, stating that the funds have been properly accounted for.

Members of the Committee commended the swift action taken by the school authorities, stressing the need for strict financial discipline and accountability in public institutions.

The PAC continues to examine irregularities cited in the Auditor-General’s Report, as part of efforts to safeguard public funds and ensure transparency.

The hearing forms part of the Committee’s second zonal sitting in the Ashanti Region, targeting Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), as well as public basic and secondary schools, in a broader push to address financial lapses and promote prudent management of state resources.
