Police Kill Notorious Armed Robbery Suspect Linked to Multiple Crimes in Bono East Operation

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that its Bono East Regional Intelligence Directorate, in collaboration with the National Police Intelligence Directorate, has neutralised a suspected armed robber during an intelligence-led operation at Cherimbo in the Prang District.

The operation, carried out on Monday, April 13, 2026, targeted Amadu Mammaa, a wanted suspect believed to be behind several robbery incidents as well as a murder case across parts of the country.

Exchange of Fire During Arrest Attempt

According to a police statement, the suspect sustained gunshot wounds after engaging officers in a shootout during the operation.

He was immediately transported to the Holy Family Hospital for emergency care but was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.

Items Recovered

A search on the suspect retrieved a foreign-made pistol loaded with four rounds of 7.65mm ammunition, a cutlass, and three talismans, police said.

Linked to Murder and Robbery Cases

Investigators have linked the deceased suspect to the murder of Hawa Yakubu on March 9, 2026, at Jerusalem near Mpaha in the Savannah Region.

He is also alleged to have participated in an armed robbery attack on two victims at Bompa near Ejura in the Ashanti Region on February 23, 2026.

The police have deposited the body at the Holy Family Hospital morgue as investigations continue into the broader network of crimes associated with the suspect.
