The Ghana Police Service has taken into custody Prophet William Gyimah, General Overseer of Elohim International Ministry, following allegations that he issued death threats against Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in a video that went viral online.

The 49-year-old cleric was arrested on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation in Kasoa, Central Region.

Authorities said the arrest was executed by the IGP’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) after a video circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms allegedly showed him making the threats.

The Ghana Police Service explained that the clip was flagged through routine social media monitoring, prompting immediate action by the specialised unit.

Prophet Gyimah has now been handed over to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further investigations.
