Mpraeso have emerged champions of the 2026 Lawson Media Kwahu Easter Gala after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over defending champions Obo in a fiercely contested final.

The highly anticipated clash lived up to expectations, delivering intensity, passion, and tactical discipline from both sides.
Despite numerous attempts and end-to-end action, neither team could find the back of the net after 90 minutes of regulation time, forcing the game into a tense penalty shootout.

Mpraeso held their nerve from the spot to defeat Obo, sealing a memorable victory and dethroning the defending champions.
The win earns Mpraeso a cash prize of GHC15,000, along with the coveted trophy, medals, and products from Lawson Deray Man Bitters.

Obo, who fought gallantly to defend their title, settled for the runners-up position and will take home GHC10,000.
The tournament, which featured 16 teams, was widely hailed as a success, with fans praising the high level of competition and organization.

In a historic move, this year’s edition introduced the use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology for the first time in the gala’s history—an innovation that significantly enhanced officiating and decision-making.
Speaking after the event, the General Manager of Lawson Media, Mr. Isaac Antwi, expressed his delight at the success of the competition.

He commended all participating teams for their discipline, sportsmanship, and unwavering support, emphasizing that their conduct contributed immensely to the smooth running of the tournament.
Mr. Antwi also assured fans and stakeholders that the 2027 edition of the gala will be even bigger and better, building on the improvements witnessed this year.
Project Manager for KeedBet, Mr. Frederick Abbey, whose outfit sponsored the gala, praised the strong partnership with Lawson Media.
He reaffirmed KeedBet’s commitment to supporting the tournament, hinting at an even more impactful collaboration in 2027.
Although the football action has concluded, the Kwahu Easter celebrations are far from over. The streets of Obomeng are set to come alive with electrifying performances from popular entertainers, including Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win and Lasmid, promising a grand finale to an unforgettable festive occasion.
