Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), will embark on a three-day tour of the Ashanti Region starting Wednesday to express gratitude to voters for helping return the NDC to power in the 2024 elections.

The NDC doubled its parliamentary seats in the region from four to eight in the 2024 elections a historic first for the party there. President John Mahama also strengthened his support in the region, securing over 43,000 more votes than in 2020, while the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) experienced a decline of over 429,000 votes compared with the previous election.

Planned as “Phase 1” of a tour of what has been called the NPP’s “World Bank” strongholds, Asiedu Nketia will meet with party leaders and grassroots members to assess public perception of the government’s performance and share updates on forthcoming plans.

According to his office, the tour will include meetings with constituency executives, district chief executives (DCEs), party cadres, branch executives, coordinators, former executives, chiefs, assembly members, drivers’ unions, and other notable groups.

The tour will begin in Akumadan and continue to Abofour, Boamang, Kodie, Suame, Ejura, and Mampong, followed by visits to Nsuta, Agona, Mamponteng, Adaase, Tutuka, Akrofuom, New Edubiase, and Brofoyedru.

The detailed schedule for the Ashanti Regional program for Phase 1 of the National Chairman’s “Thank You Tour” has been issued by his office.
