A large and emotional crowd gathered at Accra International Airport to welcome Akosua Serwaa Fosu, widow of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, as she returned to Ghana ahead of his upcoming celebration of life.

Scenes of joy and heartfelt emotion marked her arrival, with family members, close friends, and devoted fans coming together to receive her. Among those present were Akosua Bempomaa, Lumba’s grandmother, and other relatives from the musician’s maternal side, all eagerly anticipating the event.

Veteran musician Papa Shee, a longtime supporter, was also on hand to greet Akosua Serwaa.

The celebration of life is scheduled for March 28 and 29, 2026, as part of the maternal family’s funeral rites following earlier burial arrangements that did not fully involve that side of the family.

In tribute to the late icon, organisers have unveiled specially designed “Celebration of Life” attire under the theme “Wo do nti Nyame nhyira wo,” featuring a dove set against a love-inspired background—symbolising peace, affection, and Daddy Lumba’s enduring musical influence.

Despite reports of injunction applications filed at the Accra High Court by former family head Abusuapanyin Tupac Fosu, organisers confirmed that the event will go ahead as planned.

Daddy Lumba, celebrated as one of Ghana’s most influential highlife musicians, leaves behind a rich musical legacy that continues to resonate locally and internationally.
