Foreign Minister Ablakwa confirms all Ghanaians who requested assistance have returned safely from Israel

- The government successfully brought home all citizens who requested assistance, along with some embassy personnel.
- While most personnel returned, a few critical embassy staff continue to operate in Israel to provide necessary services.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has confirmed that all Ghanaians in Israel who requested government assistance have been successfully evacuated back home.
In a Facebook statement on Thursday, March 19, 2026, Ablakwa revealed that the operation also included the safe return of certain diplomatic staff from Ghana’s embassy in Tel Aviv.
“We have safely evacuated all Ghanaians who expressed the desire to be assisted by the Government of Ghana out of Israel back home,” he affirmed.
While most embassy personnel were brought back, a small number of essential staff remain in Israel to maintain critical consular services.
The Minister expressed gratitude to both Israeli and Egyptian authorities for their support in ensuring the smooth completion of the evacuation.
“I convey our appreciation to Israeli and Egyptian authorities for their cooperation,” Ablakwa said.
He also welcomed the evacuees upon their arrival in Ghana, praising the successful and timely operation.
“We warmly welcome our compatriots who arrived in Ghana a few hours ago,” he added.
Ablakwa reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare and safety of Ghanaians abroad, emphasizing that evacuation efforts will continue wherever necessary.
“The Mahama Administration will continue with safe evacuation efforts as we prioritize the welfare of all Ghanaians,” he concluded.
