Poll Projections Confirmed

The outcome aligns closely with projections by research firm Global InfoAnalytics, which had forecast a commanding lead for the NDC candidate ahead of the polls.

The pre-election survey, conducted between February 28 and March 1, projected Baba Jamal to secure approximately 75 percent of the vote, with the NPP candidate trailing significantly. Independent and other candidates were expected to receive marginal shares.

Political Significance

The victory reinforces the NDC’s dominance in Ayawaso East and marks Baba Jamal’s return to Parliament. He previously served as Member of Parliament for Akwatia and also represented Ghana as High Commissioner to Nigeria.

Voter turnout across several polling stations was generally low but peaceful, with electoral officials and security personnel maintaining order throughout the exercise.

Baba Jamal is expected to be sworn into Parliament in the coming days to represent the people of Ayawaso East and continue the legislative duties left by the late Mahama Naser Toure.
