Western Regional executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have stressed that the party’s chances of returning to power in 2028 depend on electing a national chairman who is fearless, smart, and strategic.

The call came during a meeting with constituency executives in the Western Region, hosted by Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako—widely known as Chairman Wontumi—who is touring the country as part of his campaign for the NPP chairmanship. Leaders emphasized that the party currently faces a leadership gap and needs a figure capable of restoring direction and purpose to its structures.

Bananas, Deputy Youth Organiser for Elembelle Constituency, said it would be politically unwise to bypass Wontumi, particularly at a time when the party lacks strong leadership in key areas. Raphael Andoh, deputy youth organiser for Prestea Huni Valley, described Wontumi as an invaluable asset and blessing to the party whose contributions must be safeguarded.

Naida Ama Yankey, Deputy Women’s Organiser for Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency, added that the party should elect a leader who fully understands its operations and workings to ensure effective mobilisation and a successful 2028 election campaign.

The Western Region executives’ statements underscore growing grassroots support for Wontumi, highlighting his strategic experience and deep understanding of party structures.
