Stop Blaming Ghanaian Women for Russian Scandal — Vida Adutwumwaa

Entertainment analyst urges focus on the alleged perpetrator, not the victims, as videos circulate online.

Story Highlights
  • Adutwumwaa condemns media and social media for calling Ghanaian women “cheap.”
  • Russian national Vladislav Luilkov accused of secretly recording and sharing videos.
  • Public urged to hold the suspect accountable, not the women in the clips.

Entertainment analyst and music publicist Vida Adutwumwaa has called on the public and media to stop shaming Ghanaian women in connection with viral videos allegedly recorded without their consent by a Russian national, urging focus on the accused’s actions instead.

Adutwumwaa criticised the rush to vilify women featured in the clips rather than hold the alleged perpetrator accountable.

She noted that much of the online commentary unfairly targeted the women, without considering the full context or circumstances. According to Adutwumwaa, the videos circulating online were edited, and critical details about what occurred before the women arrived at the suspect’s residence remain unclear.

“One thing Ghanaians did on social media which has pained me is calling Ghanaian women ‘cheap’ on TV, radio, and online. People do not really know what happened between the time he spoke to them and the time they showed up. The videos were edited. Until we know the full story, we cannot label them as ‘cheap,’” she said.

Government sources have identified the suspect as 36-year-old Russian national Vladislav Luilkov, who allegedly recorded and distributed videos of multiple Ghanaian women without their consent. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and diplomatic attention.

Adutwumwaa emphasised that public discourse should condemn the alleged misconduct rather than blame the women involved. She also praised interventions from various state institutions, highlighting constructive engagement from several ministries.
