Coach Karim Zito has been named head coach of Division One League leaders AshantiGold, just two weeks after stepping down from his position at Asante Kotoko.
Zito resigned from the Porcupine Warriors following a disappointing spell that saw the team record only one win in six matches.
The experienced tactician now takes charge of AshantiGold as the club pushes for promotion to the Ghana Premier League. Although details of his contract have not been disclosed, he is expected to remain with the team until the end of the current season.
AshantiGold currently sit atop Zone 2 of the Division One League with 40 points after 20 matches.
Zito brings a strong résumé to the role. He led Dreams FC to FA Cup success in 2023 and guided them to a historic CAF Confederation Cup semi-final appearance. He later replicated domestic cup success with Kotoko, adding the Toyota Cup, Super Cup, and President’s Cup to his achievements.
