Nigerian Forces Kill 25 ISWAP Fighters in Borno Operations

Nigerian military forces have killed at least 25 suspected ISWAP fighters during coordinated operations in the northeast, authorities confirmed Sunday.
The raids focused on insurgent strongholds in Limankara and Kukawa, areas in Borno state that have long suffered from militant attacks.
Lt. Col. Sani Uba, media officer for the Theatre Command, said troops engaged militants in a fierce firefight.
“During the ensuing firefight, 15 terrorists were neutralized while scores fled with gunshot wounds,” Uba said in a statement.
He added that aerial surveillance tracked the fleeing fighters on five motorcycles through difficult terrain. A subsequent precision airstrike killed 10 additional militants as they attempted to evade advancing troops.
The operation also destroyed large defensive positions and logistics structures used by the group. Authorities reported the seizure of two vehicles, multiple weapons, and a significant cache of ammunition.
These operations are part of a broader campaign by the Nigerian military to weaken ISWAP’s operational capacity in Borno state.
Nigeria continues to grapple with insurgent violence from Boko Haram and ISWAP, which has destabilized communities for over a decade, leaving thousands dead and millions displaced across the northeast.
