The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has confirmed that four suspects have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Ohwim Tigo Junction in Kumasi that left one person dead.

The February 10 incident involved the shooting of the victim, Andrews Amankwa, and the theft of his Toyota Hilux. Amankwa later died while receiving treatment at a hospital.

Police operations led to the first arrest on February 18 when Akwasi Manu was found with a mobile phone belonging to the victim. He has been charged with possession of stolen property and remanded in custody.

Subsequent intelligence-led raids resulted in the arrests of Bashiru Tanko on February 19, and Kwaju Amponsah and Emmanuel Kwame Apea on February 21 and 22, respectively.

One additional suspect, Eric Acheampong Adu, sustained gunshot wounds during the operation and later died.

The IGP revealed that the deceased suspect led the gang, which specialised in snatching pickups and Land Cruiser vehicles.
