A 16-year-old girl who went missing on Valentine’s Day has been found dead in a stream at Tinkong in the Eastern Region.
The teenager, identified as Deborah Dede Ama, reportedly left her home on the evening of February 14 to attend a Valentine’s Day gathering in the Tinkong township while her mother was away. When she failed to return, her family became alarmed and began searching for her.
Her body was discovered on Tuesday in a stream near her home. A relative, Kofi Sammy, said the body was found without clothing and in a state of decomposition, with marks that raised suspicions of foul play. Residents believe she may have been assaulted before being killed by unknown persons.
Officers from the Ghana Police Service in Adawso retrieved the body and transported it to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy as investigations begin.
The victim’s mother was said to be devastated upon hearing the news, while family members and community residents gathered in grief.
Assembly Member for Tinkong, Samuel Abochie, described the incident as tragic and urged the police to carry out a thorough investigation to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
