The government of Ghana has officially confirmed that the individual responsible for sharing intimate videos of Ghanaian women without their consent is a Russian national.

The clarification was provided during a joint press conference held by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation.

Earlier media reports had questioned the suspect’s nationality, noting that the name circulating online did not appear typically Russian.

At the briefing, Minister for Communication, Sam Nartey George, explained that engagement with the Russian Embassy had confirmed the individual’s citizenship. He further stated that the suspect’s passports would be made available to the media for verification.

The Minister also noted that several victims have formally lodged complaints, and authorities are working to ensure they receive appropriate support while investigations continue.

The government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of Ghanaian women, warning that anyone who shares or distributes intimate content without consent will face full legal consequences.
