The Ghana Police Service has arrested a woman in connection with the alleged theft of a newborn at the Mamprobi Polyclinic, with the baby safely recovered.

According to reports, the suspect, dressed as a nurse, was captured on the facility’s CCTV cameras carrying the newborn and leaving the premises with what appeared to be a sack. The footage has since gone viral on social media.

The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, shortly after the mother delivered via cesarean section. The alleged abduction caused panic among staff and patients at the clinic.

Police have confirmed that the suspect is now in custody and assisting authorities with investigations. The safe recovery of the baby has brought relief to the family and the surrounding community.
