The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting to engage political parties ahead of the upcoming Ayawaso East parliamentary by-election.

In a letter dated February 6, 2026, addressed to General Secretaries of political parties, the Commission stated that the meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at its Corporate Head Office in Accra.

According to the EC, discussions at the meeting will focus primarily on preparations and arrangements for the Ayawaso East by-election.

“Each political party is to be represented by two (2) persons only,” the Commission directed in the invitation.

The letter was signed by Dr Bossman Eric Asare, Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services, on behalf of the EC Chairperson.

The Ayawaso East by-election has drawn significant public and political attention in recent days, particularly following internal developments within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including allegations of vote buying during its parliamentary primary.

The by-election became necessary after the death of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Naser Toure Mahama, which left the parliamentary seat vacant.
