New Asante Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu III Swears Allegiance to Otumfuo
Newly installed Mamponghene pledges loyalty to the Golden Stool at Asanteman Council meeting

Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, the newly enstooled Asante Mamponghene and Occupant of the Silver Stool, has formally sworn allegiance to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, reaffirming his loyalty to the Golden Stool and the Asante Kingdom.
The oath of allegiance was taken at the first Asanteman Council meeting held on January 19, 2026, where Daasebre Osei Bonsu III held aloft a ceremonial sword to pledge his unflinching commitment to Otumfuo and the unity of Asanteman.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu III succeeds the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu Osei II, who passed away in 2025 after years of distinguished service to the kingdom.
Addressing the council, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II reflected on the exemplary leadership, humility, selflessness and discipline of the late Mamponghene, describing him as a chief who always chose dialogue and respect over public confrontation.
“Many times, issues arose that needed redress. I called him indoors to resolve them. Outdooring such matters would have tarnished and disgraced me. Whenever he was at fault, I invited him, and he honoured promptly. Daasebre was respectful and obedient,” Otumfuo recalled.
Turning to the new Mamponghene, the Asantehene expressed deep confidence in his leadership, noting the close bond between him and his predecessor.
“You are my grandson, and therefore my own. I rest my case. I know you were the confidant of Daasebre while he lived. I am fully aware,” Otumfuo stated.
In his pledge, Daasebre Osei Bonsu III assured the Asantehene and the entire kingdom of his unwavering loyalty, vowing to defend the interests of Asanteman and secure victory for the kingdom whenever duty calls.
The solemn ceremony marked a significant moment in Asante traditional governance, reinforcing continuity, loyalty and the enduring authority of the Golden Stool.
