A devastating accident in Kumawu, Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of four people, including two children, after a heavy-duty truck crashed into a salon on Saturday, January 17.

The truck, loaded with sand from a nearby road construction site, lost control and smashed into the container shop that housed the salon.

Among the deceased were the salon owner, her two children, and a customer.

Four others, including the truck driver, sustained injuries. One of the critically injured victims was transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, while the others are receiving treatment at Kumawu Government Hospital.

This marks the second incident involving trucks from the same construction company in Kumawu; a previous crash involved a truck hitting a mosque, though fortunately, there were no casualties.

The accident has sparked outrage and concern among Kumawu residents, who are calling for urgent measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
