A 30-year-old man, identified as Moses, has been arrested by the Awutu Ofaakor District Police Command over the suspected murder of his girlfriend at Yamoah Nkwanta in the Awutu Senya West District, Central Region.

Reports indicate that the suspect, a resident of Oboman in the Ga South Municipality, visited the deceased, known as Sister Yaa, intending to spend the night with her. A misunderstanding reportedly erupted when the victim refused the suspect’s sexual advances.

The suspect allegedly attacked Sister Yaa with a machete, then dragged her out of her room and smashed her head with a concrete block, killing her instantly.

The Chief of Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta and Ogyahene of Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Achiene Acheampong Kuma, said that he personally reported the incident to police, leading to the suspect’s arrest at Yamoah Nkwanta and handover to the Ofaakor District Police Command.

The body of the victim has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue, while authorities work to establish contact with her family.
