A trailer loaded with soya beans has run over an okada rider, believed to be 27 years old, killing him instantly at Suame Maakro in the Ashanti Region.

The victim, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was reportedly mutilated by the vehicle in the gory accident.

According to an eyewitness, the trailer, with registration GT-1963-13, ran over the man after a hook on the vehicle trapped the okada rider, who was riding beside the long truck, leaving him pinned under the vehicle.

Some residents told Adom News that accidents are common in the area, attributing the frequency to ongoing road construction works.

“This is not the first time. We have seen dozens of accidents here, but this time, sadly, a life has been lost. The ongoing construction has made the road very difficult to navigate, causing accidents. We hope they complete the work soon to prevent more tragedies,” one resident said.

Police quickly responded to the scene, conveying the body to the morgue for identification, as investigations into the incident continue.
