The Lawson Gala inter-community football tournament, organized by Lawson Media, has entered its fifth day, with group stage matches continuing at the Cocoa Ase Astro Turf in Bantama.
The gala, which brings together communities across the Ashanti Region to showcase football talent, entertainment, and local pride, began with 24 teams competing for a total prize package of GHS 100,000.
Communities that advanced to the group stages include Atonsu, Adiebeba, Suame, Atasomanso, Nkwantakese, Ejisu, Tech, Moshie Zongo, Abuakwa, Asawasi, and Pakyi, all eager to display their football prowess.
The fifth day of action has already produced exciting results. In the opening group stage match, Atonsu edged past Suame 2-1, thanks to a classic goal by former Asante Kotoko forward, Dickson Afoakwa. Moshie Zongo and Patasi played out a goalless draw, while Asawasi and Abuakwa shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
Eight matches are scheduled for today, kicking off at 12:30 p.m. and concluding at 9:40 p.m., promising fans a full day of intense football action.
The tournament carries lucrative rewards, making it one of the most competitive inter-community football competitions in the Ashanti Region:
