Ghanaian actor John Peasah, widely known as Drogba from the YOLO TV series, has appealed to fans and religious groups to stop inviting him to church programmes as he focuses on managing his deteriorating health.

The actor is battling a demyelinating disease, a condition that damages the protective covering of nerve fibres in the brain, eyes, and spinal cord. The illness has significantly affected his mobility and speech, and he is currently seeking medical treatment abroad.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Drogba expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support he continues to receive but stressed that he needs privacy, calm, and space to prioritise his recovery.

He urged the public to avoid drawing him into comparisons, debates, or controversies surrounding his condition and religious appearances.

“In the name of God, I humbly request that you please keep me away from any further invitations to churches. My DM is getting full of invites. This isn’t about comparing power or influence; it’s about my well-being. I’ve been through a lot and want to avoid any more controversy,” he wrote.

Drogba first revealed the extent of his condition in March 2024, noting that he had been undergoing treatment for two and a half years and had been facing serious financial strain. His health resurfaced in public conversation again in August last year when a viral video showed him among individuals claimed to have received divine healing during a Friday Miracle Night at CE Airport City Model Church.

In a recent update shared alongside his sister, he disclosed that he struggles to sit for long periods and becomes physically worse in crowded spaces. The actor is once again appealing for financial support as he works to raise $280,000 for a critical surgery.

“I’ve moved forward and am grateful to have had the chance to clear things up. I believe in God’s miracles and power, and I pray for healing. Please help me get the medical treatment I need during this time,” he added.
