Two suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the Ahafo Regional Police following a wave of violent attacks that rocked Nkasiem on December 2, 2025.
The suspects are believed to be members of a criminal syndicate that targeted a gold buying company and a cocoa buying company, and also attempted to breach the vault of the Asutifi Rural Bank — all within the same area.
During the attacks, the armed robbers, wielding pump-action guns, shot and injured one victim in the thigh. The victim was rushed to the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem for treatment and has since been discharged.
Police say the arrests followed a focused intelligence-led operation, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the gang who remain at large.
In response to the security threat, the Inspector-General of Police has deployed a special anti-robbery team from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to reinforce the Ahafo Regional Command’s operation.
The Regional Police Command has assured residents that all suspects involved will be arrested and made to face the full rigours of the law.
The public has been urged to remain alert and report suspicious activities through the emergency line 059-9200593 or via WhatsApp on 059-9232700.
The Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, C/Insp. Kwadwo Boakye, reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the police to protecting lives and property and maintaining law and order.
