Grassroot Football Ambassador, Yaw Dabo has thrown his weight behind the debut edition of the Lawson Media Inter-Community Xmas Gala.

Yaw Dabo praised the initiative as unprecedented and promising immense opportunities for participating communities.

In an exclusive interview with Lawsonmediaonline, Dabo described the introduction of the tournament as a historic move.

“It is good that Lawson Media has introduced this; it is unprecedented. The prize money of GHS 100,000 to be shared among the four best teams is historic, and any community that participates gets a big opportunity,” he said.

The tournament, officially announced by the Board and Management of Lawson Media, is scheduled to take place from 18th to 24th December 2025 at the Cocoa Ase Astro Turf in Bantama, Kumasi.

The competition will feature 24 teams competing in 32 matches, with each team receiving a set of jerseys.

The prize distribution for the four top teams is as follows:

  • 1st Place (Champion): GHS 40,000

  • 2nd Place: GHS 30,000

  • 3rd Place: GHS 20,000

  • 4th Place: GHS 10,000

Dabo commended the CEO of Lawson Media Company, Dr. Lawson Kyei Manu, and the management for their vision. “God bless Dr Lawson, King Eben, Kwame Tanko and all the workers of Lawson Media for this remarkable initiative,” he added.

He further urged participating communities to maintain discipline throughout the tournament. “Know that the registration fee of GHS 500 will be refunded to teams that are eliminated. This ensures fairness and encourages participation,” Dabo noted.

In a show of support, Dabo confirmed that he is personally bringing Pakyi community to compete in the tournament.

He also highlighted the presence of scouts and agents who will be observing the matches, adding, “If you are lucky, you might be picked.”

The tournament forms were sold out just hours after the announcement was made on air.

The event is proudly sponsored by Lawson Company Limited, producers of Lawson Herbal Mixture, Lawson De-Ray Man Bitters, Law-Care Mixture, and Delay Man Capsules.

The Lawson Media Inter-Community Xmas Gala promises to be a landmark sporting event in the Ashanti Region, combining football excitement with opportunities for talent discovery and community engagement.
