The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has commended NPP flagbearer hopeful Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as a genuine and consistent figure in Ghanaian politics.

Awuku noted that unlike some politicians who adopt a warmer, more approachable demeanor only when seeking office, Dr. Bawumia remains the same person in both public and private life.

Drawing from years of working closely with him, Awuku said he has observed Bawumia’s character firsthand and believes it has remained steady over time.

“There are people who suddenly become friendly when they need positions. But Dr. Bawumia has never acted that way. His approach to people is natural, and he doesn’t pretend for political gain,” he stated.

He also addressed ongoing internal party commentary, arguing that if a long-serving Vice President can be labelled a “stranger,” then those with far less political exposure would face even harsher criticism.

Awuku made these remarks during Dr. Bawumia’s tour of the Akuapem North constituency on Friday, November 28, as part of his engagements in the Eastern Region.
