The University of Ghana has initiated a formal inquiry into widely circulated video footage capturing a tense confrontation between two senior faculty members—Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh—during a live TV3 current affairs programme on Saturday, November 15, 2024.
What started as a routine discussion on national matters quickly spiraled into a personal altercation, sparking public backlash and prompting demands for the University’s intervention.
In an official statement, the University indicated that management has taken note of the incident and, in accordance with the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011), has triggered internal procedures to assess the behaviour of both lecturers and recommend the appropriate disciplinary action.
The statement further underscored the institution’s expectations of professionalism, integrity, and decorum from all academic staff—standards that apply across both public and private engagements.
The University reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its reputation and maintaining the confidence of the public.
