The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested John Odartey Lamptey, the man seen in a viral Facebook video physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife in Ofankor, Ga East Municipality.

The arrest was made on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the family residence following widespread outrage online.

Police also detained two of the suspect’s siblings, Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey, who allegedly tried to attack a female tenant suspected of recording and sharing the video. Authorities intervened in time to ensure the tenant’s safety.

Efforts are ongoing to locate the victim, who reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.

The Ghana Police Service stressed that her safety and well-being remain a top priority.

The CID reaffirmed its commitment to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that perpetrators face justice.

The public has been urged to promptly report any incidents of abuse to aid in swift police action.
