Akufo-Addo Eulogizes Aliu Mahama as Pillar of Integrity and Generosity

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has paid heartfelt tribute to the late Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, praising his generosity, hospitality, and unwavering integrity. He described Mahama as a key pillar for both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the nation.

Speaking at the 14th Commemorative Adu’a held in his honor, Akufo-Addo recalled how Mahama’s home was often a place of respite following intense political campaigns. He reflected on the former Vice President’s sudden passing on November 16, 2012, at the age of 66, calling it a deeply sorrowful loss.

“He was a most generous and hospitable host. This was a very honourable and respectable man. A man of great integrity who worked very hard for our country. His death continues to be a matter of profound sadness to me. He went far too early, and that is the way of God,” Akufo-Addo said.

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia also eulogized Aliu Mahama, sharing personal memories of the late leader’s fatherly guidance.

He recalled how Mahama would often visit his late father during his university days and later as Managing Director of the State Construction Corporation in Tamale, always leaving a lasting impression of kindness and generosity.
