Man Electrocuted While Allegedly Attempting to Steal in Berekum

A man believed to be in his late 20s has died from electrocution at Nyamebekyere, a suburb of Berekum in the Bono Region, in what residents suspect was a failed theft attempt.
The deceased, identified only as Obooshi, was found lifeless early Friday morning in front of a fast-food container, shocking residents of the community.
According to reports, the shop owner had allegedly connected live electrical wires to parts of the container after suffering repeated thefts. Residents suspect the man was electrocuted while attempting to steal from the shop during the night.
An eyewitness said that Obooshi was a known ex-convict who had previously served a sentence for theft but reportedly returned to similar activities after his release.
Police have since cordoned off the scene and begun investigations. Efforts are underway to locate the fast-food operator, who was not present during the incident.
The body has been deposited at the Berekum Holy Family Hospital morgue for autopsy.
