The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the reopening of nominations in specific electoral areas and units where no candidates filed for the upcoming district-level elections.
In a statement signed by Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey, the EC said the decision is in line with Regulation 12 of the District Level Elections Regulations, 2015 (C.I. 89).
Nomination forms will be made available free of charge at all District EC offices and on the Commission’s website from Monday, November 3 to Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Candidates must submit their completed forms in quadruplicate, along with two recent bust-sized photographs against a red background. Submissions are to be made in person or through a proposer or seconder to the relevant Returning Officer between November 10 and 13, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
For Electoral Area positions, each nomination form must be endorsed by 18 registered voters, while Electoral Unit positions require the backing of 8 registered voters.
The EC advised all prospective candidates and stakeholders to contact the Returning Officer at their District Office for further information or assistance.
