The family of Ghana’s legendary highlife musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has officially announced that a one-week observation of his passing will be held on August 30, 2025, in Accra.
The exact venue is yet to be disclosed.
This update was shared via a post on DL106.9 FM’s Facebook page on Tuesday, August 5, with further details about the main funeral event scheduled to take place in Kumasi.
According to the Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta, this timeline was decided after consultations with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who was formally informed of the music icon’s passing.
“We ask all attendees to maintain decorum and help ensure a peaceful, respectful ceremony in honour of Kwadwo Fosu,” a family spokesperson appealed.
Prior to this, a candlelight vigil was held on August 2 at Independence Square in Accra, in collaboration with the Creative Arts Agency. Thousands gathered in a deeply emotional tribute to celebrate the life and legacy of the beloved artist.
Daddy Lumba died in the early hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a brief illness, leaving behind an enduring legacy in Ghana’s music history.
