At least 10 people suffered gunshot wounds on Sunday afternoon amid a fire outbreak at Ritz Junction in Madina.

One of the victims, Ernest Opare, revealed he was shot in the forehead, back, and buttocks. He is currently receiving treatment at Pentecost Hospital, along with four other injured individuals.

Ernest claimed the gunman—identified only by the nickname Area—arrived at the scene in a rage and brandished a pump-action shotgun. He reportedly opened fire indiscriminately on bystanders and into the air, even in the presence of police and fire officers.

Ernest accused the police at the scene of failing to intervene or arrest the assailant during the shooting.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown.

The incident occurred alongside a devastating fire that destroyed over 50 wooden structures and metal containers, leaving many residents displaced. The blaze is believed to have started at a local washing bay.

Firefighters from the Madina Fire Station responded swiftly and worked to prevent the flames from spreading further.
