The Ministry of Health has announced the successful processing of salaries for 321 Pharmacist House Officers who completed their housemanship in 2024—a move seen as a key milestone in addressing financial arrears in the health sector.
In a statement, the Ministry acknowledged the frustrations of the 2024 batch of Rotation Nurses and Allied Health Interns, who completed their year-long service between May 2024 and May 2025 but have yet to be paid.
The delay, according to the Ministry, is largely due to the previous administration’s failure to obtain the necessary financial clearance before the interns commenced work.
Efforts are currently underway to rectify the situation, with the Ministry engaging relevant government bodies to fast-track the clearance and facilitate prompt salary disbursement.
“This is part of a broader commitment to resolve all salary arrears within the health sector and ensure every health professional is adequately supported in delivering care to Ghanaians,” the statement read.
The Ministry also assured affected interns that their concerns are being treated with urgency, and that measures are being introduced to establish a more reliable system to prevent future salary delays.
