The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has issued a stern warning, declaring its readiness to use all necessary force to restore and maintain peace in Bawku and nearby areas affected by recurring violence.

In a statement released on Tuesday, July 30, GAF announced a shift from peacekeeping to peace enforcement operations in response to ongoing armed attacks, reprisal violence, and the loss of innocent lives.

“These escalating activities pose a dangerous threat not just to Bawku, but to the peace and stability of the entire nation,” the Armed Forces stated.

To address the situation, the military will conduct intensified security operations in Bawku, Binduri, Nalerigu, and Zebilla. GAF emphasized that these efforts will be “robust and purposeful,” aimed at safeguarding communities and restoring law and order.

The Armed Forces cautioned all residents to comply with the law and observe the revised curfew, now set from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., noting that it “will be enforced to the letter.”

GAF also warned against any interference with ongoing operations, adding that “attacks on security personnel or disruptions to military activities will be met with an appropriate and decisive response.”

The military called on all citizens, especially those living in the affected areas, to cooperate with the security forces. It reiterated its commitment to upholding its constitutional duty of ensuring national peace and protecting the lives of all Ghanaians.
