Tensions are escalating in Asawase, Ashanti Region, following the fatal shooting of an unidentified man—just days after the assassination of Kusasi Chief, Abdul-Malik Azenbe.

The latest incident occurred when two unidentified gunmen on a motorbike opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene. The man died instantly.

Police and military forces swiftly arrived, cordoning off the area. Crime scene experts are currently collecting evidence as part of an ongoing investigation.

This comes on the heels of the July 22 killing of Chief Abdul-Malik Azenbe, the Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region, who was gunned down at his residence near the Asawase F-line community centre. He was attacked by motorbike-riding gunmen, one reportedly wielding an AK-47.

Authorities have yet to confirm a link between the two incidents, but the timing and similarity in method have triggered widespread fear among locals.

Security has since been intensified, though the Ashanti Regional Police Command has not released an official statement on the latest shooting.
