She highlighted its potential to enhance trade, ease transportation of goods, and attract private investment.
During her vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, the Jomoro MP outlined her vision for a revitalized and investor-friendly railway sector, promising to work closely with her Minister, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, to open the sector to strategic partnerships.
“If given the nod, I will collaborate with the sector Minister to attract private investors and make the railway sector more viable for national development,” she said.
Responding to a question on whether she supports a direct rail connection between Jomoro and Tema, she answered emphatically, “Yes, Mr Chairman, I will because it will help.”
Affo-Toffey reaffirmed her readiness to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s transport development agenda, particularly in the railway sector, if approved for the role.
