Fauja Singh, the British-Indian marathon legend known as the “Turbaned Tornado,” has died at the age of 114 after being struck in a hit-and-run incident in his native village of Beas Pind, Punjab, India.
Singh, who began running marathons at 89, completed nine full races and became a global icon of resilience and healthy aging.
Despite personal tragedy, he turned to running for healing and went on to inspire millions worldwide.
Though not officially recognized by Guinness due to a lack of early documentation, he is widely regarded as the world’s oldest marathon runner.
