Arsenal are close to finalising a deal to sign Sweden international Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, with a full agreement expected within the next 24 hours.
Sources have confirmed to BBC Sport that the two clubs have reached consensus on the transfer, valued at €73.5 million (£63.5 million), including performance-based add-ons. Only minor contractual details remain before the move is officially completed.
All parties are working toward finalising the deal in time for Gyokeres to join the Gunners’ squad on their pre-season tour of Asia later this week.
The latest offer represents a slight increase on Arsenal’s earlier bid of €70 million (£60 million) and reflects the club’s strong desire to secure the prolific striker.
Gyokeres, 27, has already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract.
Earlier this month, BBC Sport reported that Arsenal had shifted focus to Gyokeres after negotiations for RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Šeško stalled.
Sporting Director Andrea Berta travelled to Lisbon late last week to lead face-to-face talks with Sporting and help accelerate the deal.
Gyokeres enjoyed a stellar season in Portugal, scoring 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting, making him one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.
