Former Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Hawa Koomson, was allegedly assaulted by suspected thugs believed to be affiliated with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the Odorkor Methodist polling station during the ongoing parliamentary rerun in Ablekuma North.

According to eyewitness accounts, the former MP was standing at the polling station when the suspects approached and launched an unprovoked attack. She was reportedly beaten and left in critical condition.

The incident has sparked outrage among supporters and political observers, with calls for immediate investigations and enhanced security at polling centres.

The Ghana Police Service has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
