Flooded streets and shops spark renewed concerns over poor drainage systems

Residents and business owners in Takoradi are reeling from the aftermath of a heavy downpour on Saturday, which triggered widespread flooding in several parts of the city.
Some of the worst-affected areas included the SDA Hospital vicinity and the Takoradi Market Circle.
Floodwaters swept through homes, streets, and commercial spaces, leaving a trail of damage.
Numerous shops were inundated, resulting in the destruction of goods valued at thousands of cedis.
At the Market Circle, frustrated traders returned to find their shops waterlogged and their merchandise ruined.
Many voiced concerns over the area’s inadequate drainage systems, blaming them for the persistent flooding that disrupts livelihoods every rainy season.
