The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has expressed deep commitment to his role, emphasizing the gravity and complexity of managing one of Ghana’s most challenging city jurisdictions.
Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen show on Lawson TV, Hon. Ofori Agyemang reflected on the unique demands of his new office, noting, “The volume of KMA is four times tougher than Obuasi.”
Drawing from his previous experience as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi, he admitted that the transition was far from smooth.
“When I first got to KMA, I wasn’t taught what to do. It was a whole new terrain, unlike anything I had handled before,” he said.
However, he quickly pointed out that his prior leadership experience has given him an edge. “I already have firsthand orientation in the workings of office. That gives me a head start in navigating the complexities of this role,” he added.
Hon. Ofori Agyemang also acknowledged the enormous faith placed in him by the people of Kumasi and especially by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
“I am very aware people have faith in me, especially Otumfuo. I will not let his faith in me down. In fact, his belief in me gingers me to do something meaningful,” he assured.
The Mayor also addressed comparisons made between him and late former KMA Boss, Akwasi Agyemang, a name that resonates with strong leadership in Kumasi’s civic space.
“That tag is a big responsibility. If you’re compared to Akwasi Agyemang, it means you have something to prove and something to do. I do not take it lightly,” he said.
With a tone of readiness and resolve, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang promised to rise to the occasion, deliver results, and serve the people of Kumasi with distinction.
